The U.S. 2nd Cavalry Division is a combined arms division of the United States Army, part of III Corps and stationed primarily at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Originally established in 1901 as a cavalry division during the expansion of the regular army, it has since evolved to include various types of units, including infantry, artillery, armor, aviation, and support units. The division has participated in numerous conflicts throughout its history, such as World War I, where it was known for its horse-mounted charges; World War II, where it was the first American unit to enter Berlin after the city's surrender; the Korean War, Vietnam War, and more recently, operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
