X Corps was a U.S. Army unit established during the Korean War as part of the United Nations command. Originally formed in November 1950, it played a significant role in the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir and later participated in the defense of Pusan Perimeter. The corps was disestablished on July 28, 1954, following the armistice that ended active hostilities in the Korean War. Notable units under X Corps command included the 1st Marine Division, 7th Infantry Division, and elements of the U.S. Army Special Forces. The corps was reactivated as a training unit at Camp Pendleton, California, in 2006. Its mission is to prepare Marine Expeditionary Units for rapid response deployment around the world.
