The 11th Wing is a military unit within the United States Air Force (USAF). It operates primarily from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, and serves under the Alaskan Command (ALCOM) as one of its numbered air forces. Its mission encompasses air defense, air sovereignty, and quick reactionary forces in support of both ALCOM and North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD). The 11th Wing's assets include the F-22 Raptor and E-3 Sentry, among others. Its history dates back to World War II, with its current incarnation established in 1990 as part of the USAF's reorganization efforts.
