Description
A shield blazoned: Per fess Gules and Or, a mullet counterchanged of the field within a bordure similarly divided of the second and Vert. Attached below the shield is a red scroll turned gold inscribed "WE ALSO SERVE" in gold letters.

Symbolism
The shield's colors reflect the Regiment's history through its transitions between Cavalry, Artillery, and Cavalry again. The Lone Star represents the state where the 313th was organized, while the green and yellow border symbolizes service along the southwestern border.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on August 5, 1927. It was rescinded on February 2, 1959.
