The 33rd New York Infantry was a regiment that served in the United States Army during the American Civil War. Originally organized in August 1862, it consisted of ten companies and was part of the Union Army's VI Corps. Known as the "Three Hundred and Third" or the "Erie Regiment," this infantry regiment participated in several significant battles throughout the war, including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, and Petersburg. The 33rd New York Infantry was mustered out of service on July 25, 1865. This regiment represents one of the numerous military units that played a crucial role in the struggle to preserve the Union during the American Civil War.
