Description/Blazon

A shield blazoned: Per pale Azure and Sable, a lion rampant Or, on a canton Argent, a chevron wavy of the first. Attached below the shield is a gold scroll inscribed "DRAGOONS" in black letters.

Symbolism

The blue and white colors represent Infantry. The black and gold colors, adapted from the Belgian coat of arms, are used for the Belgian lion. The wavy chevron on the canton signifies the Regiment's descent from the 9th Infantry. The Belgian lion commemorates the organization's actions at Ardennes and St. Vith, for which it received two unit decorations from the Belgian government.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 14 October 1958.
