926 Wing AFRC (U.S. Air Force) The 926th Wing Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) is a United States Air Force reserve unit, headquartered at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. Established on October 1, 1995, the wing comprises four geographically separated units (GSUs), each specializing in unique operational and support missions. The GSUs include the 458th Fighter Group based at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, Michigan; the 308th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana; the 916th Air Refueling Wing at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida; and the 727th Special Tactics Group also at Hurlburt Field, Florida. The mission of the 926th Wing is to provide trained and ready airmen in support of national defense strategies, offering capabilities such as close-air-support, strategic bombing, aerial refueling, and special operations support. As part of the Air Force Reserve Command, the 926th Wing ensures that critical combat support functions can be rapidly augmented when required by the active duty forces.
