The 'Flag of Belfast, Ireland' is a unique heraldic banner that represents the city of Belfast in Northern Ireland. It features three mullets (five-pointed stars) arranged in a vertical line on a field divided into four quarters by a cross patonce, a type of cross with broad arms ending in trefoils. The upper left and lower right quarters are quarterly divided into black and red, while the upper right and lower left quarters bear the red hand of Connaught (a red hand grasping a gauntlet) on gold. The flag is officially recognized as a symbol of Belfast by Belfast City Council and has been in use since 1959.
