Flag of Territoire de Belfort, France The flag of Territoire de Belfort, a French department located in eastern France, consists of four equal horizontal stripes arranged diagonally. The upper and lower stripes are colored blue, while the two middle stripes are white. This unique design reflects the department's history as a free imperial city and later a protectorate before becoming part of France. The flag was officially adopted on April 16, 2004. It is an important symbol for the people of Territoire de Belfort, representing their regional identity within the larger French context. The blue and white colors are also found in the coat of arms of the department, which features a shield with three fleurs-de-lis and a crowned lion passant guardant, symbolizing the historical links to the Duchy of Burgundy and the Holy Roman Empire. Today, the flag of Territoire de Belfort is flown during official ceremonies and events that celebrate regional identity, as well as on notable dates such as Bastille Day (July 14) and the department's own holiday (October 29).
