The Soyuz TM-29 was a flight under the Soyuz space programme, a human spaceflight program run by Roscosmos, Russia's federal space agency. Launched on August 31, 1998, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, Soyuz TM-29 carried a three-person crew consisting of Sergei Avdeyev (Commander), Anatoly Solovyev (Flight Engineer), and Nicolas Patrick (Payload Specialist) to the International Space Station (ISS). The primary objective of this mission was to deliver the second long-duration crew for ISS assembly operations. After 179 days in space, the crew returned to Earth safely on February 20, 1999. This flight marked several firsts: it was the first manned flight to dock with the ISS, the first long-duration mission using a Soyuz spacecraft, and the first time a British astronaut flew on a Russian spacecraft.
