Washington, D.C. Douglas Hospital (Formerly Minnesota Row), 2D and I Streets NW (U.S. Civil War) The Washington, D.C. Douglas Hospital, originally known as Minnesota Row, is a historical site located at the intersection of 2D and I Streets NW in the United States capital. During the U.S. Civil War, this location served as a military hospital, providing medical care to wounded soldiers from both Union and Confederate forces. After the war, the building complex was renamed Douglas Hospital, serving the District of Columbia's community until its closure in 1996. Today, the site stands as an important historical landmark, offering insights into the medical care provided during the U.S. Civil War and the city's history more broadly. Despite efforts to preserve this heritage, the buildings have been left vacant and are currently at risk of demolition or redevelopment.
