The XV Corps is a formation of the United States Army that has seen service primarily during the Korean War and Vietnam War. Originally activated in 1943 as part of the U.S. Sixth Army, it was redesignated as an independent corps in 1952. During the Korean War, XV Corps played a crucial role in the Battle of Pusan Perimeter and the subsequent Inchon Landing. It also participated in the capture of Seoul and the Chosin Reservoir campaign. The corps was deactivated following the ceasefire in 1953 but was reactivated during the Vietnam War, serving mainly as a training command. The XV Corps has been headquartered at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state since 1984 and is currently under the jurisdiction of Army Pacific Command. The corps conducts joint and combined training operations with allied nations and provides ready forces for deployment to the Asia-Pacific region when required.
