The 1 Group, also known as First Army (FIA), is a major command within the United States Army responsible for integrating and coordinating the army's active components, reserve components, and civilian agencies during full-spectrum warfare operations. It was established in 1957 as part of the Department of Defense reorganization and has been headquartered at Fort Meade, Maryland since 1980. The mission of the 1 Group is to ensure readiness for mobilization and deployment, plan and prepare for contingencies, and support training exercises and operations. It oversees numerous subordinate units and commands across the United States and abroad.
