The 119th Pennsylvania Infantry was a Union Army infantry regiment during the American Civil War. Raised primarily from men from Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, the unit was part of the Army of the Potomac and served in numerous battles, including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor, Petersburg, and Appomattox. The regiment, which consisted of ten companies, was mustered into service on August 13, 1862, and mustered out on June 9, 1865. Throughout its service, the 119th Pennsylvania Infantry suffered approximately 100 fatalities in combat, with an additional 207 wounded or missing in action. The regiment's contributions to the Union cause were significant during the pivotal years of the Civil War.
