The 12th Group, also known as the 12th Aerial Reconnaissance Group, was an aerial reconnaissance unit of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Established in May 1943 at Great Ashfield Air Force Base, England, it was primarily tasked with providing photographic and visual intelligence for strategic bombing missions over occupied Europe. The group flew various aircraft models, including the F-5 Lightning, over the course of its service, contributing significantly to Allied efforts in the European Theatre. The 12th Group was disbanded in October 1945 following the end of World War II.
