The 178th Infantry Regiment is a unit of the United States Army, tracing its lineage back to the American Civil War. Originally formed as part of the 45th Division in World War I, it saw combat in France and achieved distinction for its actions during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. In World War II, the regiment was deployed in the Pacific Theater where it participated in the Guam Campaign, among others.
