The 26th Infantry Division, part of the United States Army, is a combined arms formation that originated during World War I. It was activated on July 17, 1917, and has been deployed in various conflicts since its inception. Notable engagements include the Battle of Argonne Forest during World War I, the Normandy Invasion and subsequent battles in Europe during World War II, and the Korean War. The division is also known for its service during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. The 26th Infantry Division's unit crest displays a blue St. Andrew's Cross on a white background, representing the Scottish heritage of some of its original units. It is headquartered at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
