The 304th Infantry Regiment is a unit within the United States Army that has a rich history dating back to World War I. Originally formed in 1917, it was part of the 82nd Division, known as the All-American Division due to its diverse membership. During World War II, the 304th played an essential role in the Invasion of Sicily and the Normandy Landings, where they were among the first troops to reach Omaha Beach. The unit was later deployed to the Pacific Theater and fought in several campaigns including the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Post-World War II, the 304th was reorganized and participated in the Korean War as part of the 102nd Infantry Regiment. In 1963, it was redesignated once more, becoming a parent regiment to various airborne infantry units. Currently, the 304th Infantry Regiment is part of the U.S. Army's special operations community, serving in various capacities under the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne).
