The "33d New York Infantry 007" refers to a military unit that served during the U.S. Civil War. This infantry regiment, also known as the "New York National Guard," was raised in April 1861 and mustered into federal service in May of the same year. The unit consisted of ten companies, each made up of approximately one hundred men. Throughout the war, they participated in several significant battles, including the Peninsula Campaign, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and the Wilderness Campaign. The 33d New York Infantry was mustered out of service in July 1864. This infantry regiment played a crucial role in the Union's efforts during the American Civil War.
