The 46th Infantry Regiment is a historical infantry unit of the United States Army. Originally organized during World War I as part of the National Army, it was one of the few regiments to remain in the Organized Reserve after the war ended. Throughout its history, the 46th Infantry has been associated with various divisions and state militias. Notably, it served under the Oklahoma National Guard and was designated as the 270th Infantry Regiment when integrated into the active Army during World War II. Post-war, it reverted to the 46th Infantry designation and remained in the Organized Reserve. The unit has seen service in both World War II and the Korean War, earning a Presidential Unit Citation for its actions in Korea. After the Korean War, it continued its role as a reserve infantry regiment, participating in various training exercises and deployments throughout its history. Today, the 46th Infantry Regiment is a part of the United States Army Reserve and continues to train and prepare for potential active duty assignments, upholding the traditions and legacy of service established by its predecessors during the Great War and subsequent conflicts.
