Description:
A shield blazoned: Gules, a chevron vair Or and Vert, with a crescent of the second in dexter chief. Attached below and to the sides of the shield is a gold scroll inscribed "MEMOR ET FIDELIS" in red letters.
Symbolism:
The red shield represents Artillery. The chevron is derived from the arms of General James Oglethorpe, founder of the Georgia colony, while the crescent is inspired by the flag displayed on the South Carolina fort by Colonel Moultrie. The motto, "MEMOR ET FIDELIS," translates to "Mindful and Faithful."
Background:
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 67th Coast Artillery (Antiaircraft) Regiment on March 3, 1931. It was redesignated for the 67th Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion on August 7, 1956, and the motto was added on October 2, 1957. The insignia was redesignated for the 67th Artillery Regiment on January 2, 1959, and for the 67th Air Defense Artillery Regiment effective September 1, 1971.
