Description/Blazon:

On a red rectangular shield, arched at the sides, are two yellow five-pointed stars. Each star is charged with a black disc: one at the bottom right with a comet tail arcing toward the upper left, and one at the upper left with a comet tail arcing toward the bottom right.

Symbolism:

The comets represent flight trajectory and speed, while the black discs symbolize cannon balls. Positioned in a defensive posture, the comets reflect the unit's mission and suggest the number 69. Their arrangement also signifies the connection between defense operations in Europe and the United States.

Background:

The shoulder sleeve insignia was authorized on September 6, 1983.
