'A.C. Brown (U.S. Civil War)' Andrew Cowden Brown, often referred to as A.C. Brown, was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Born on May 19, 1835, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Brown initially served as a private and rose through the ranks, becoming a brevet brigadier general of volunteers by the war's end. He is notable for his leadership roles in several significant battles, including Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Chickamauga. Known for his strategic acumen and bravery, Brown played an important part in shaping the outcome of these engagements. Despite being wounded multiple times throughout the war, he continued to serve until its conclusion in 1865.
