Beazell (U.S. Civil War) Beazell refers to a minor engagement of the American Civil War that took place on August 24, 1863, in southeastern Tennessee. The battle occurred when a Confederate supply train was ambushed by Union forces under the command of Colonel Samuel D. Sturgis. Despite the initial success of the Confederates, they were eventually forced to retreat due to the superior numbers of the Union forces. The Battle of Beazell resulted in minimal casualties on both sides but had little strategic impact on the broader course of the Civil War. It is not as well-known as other battles of the era, but it remains an important part of Tennessee's and the United States' Civil War history.
