The Coat of Arms of Venezuela from 1810 represents the heraldic symbol used by the First Venezuelan Republic during its struggle for independence from Spain. The design features a shield divided into five sections, each representing one of the provinces that united to form the republic: Caracas, Barinas, Cumana, Coro, and Margarita. The central figure on the shield is an Andean condor, symbolizing freedom and power, holding a laurel wreath in its beak. Surrounding the shield are two palm branches tied at the base, signifying unity and prosperity. Above the shield, there's a cap of liberty adorned with five stars representing the five provinces. The motto "Merito y Esplendor" (Merit and Glory) is inscribed below the shield. This coat of arms was initially adopted in 1806 as part of the Venezuelan flag but was later modified after Venezuela gained independence in 1821. Today, it continues to be an important symbol of Venezuelan identity and history.
