The Ordnance Missile Command (OMC) is a disestablished U.S. Army command that was responsible for the research, development, production, and stockpiling of missiles used by the army. Established in 1962 as part of the Army Materiel Command, the OMC oversaw various missile programs, including ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as their associated guidance systems. The command was headquartered at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama until its disestablishment on October 1, 2002, when it merged with the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command to form the current U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center. The OMC played a significant role in various military conflicts such as the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, contributing to the U.S. army's missile capabilities during these periods.
