The Ordnance Missile Command (OMC) is a former United States Army command responsible for the development, production, and maintenance of the U.S. Army's missiles. Established in 1962 as part of the reorganization of the Army Material Command, it aimed to consolidate all Army ballistic missile activities under one command. The OMC was headquartered at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. It played a crucial role during the Cold War era, contributing significantly to the U.S. strategic defense through the development of various missile systems such as the Pershing II and the MX Missile. In 1972, the OMC was merged with the Army Materiel Command (AMC) and Army Logistics Command (ALOG) to form the Army Materiel Command, marking the end of the Ordnance Missile Command's existence as a separate entity within the U.S. Army. Today, the functions of the OMC are carried out by various agencies under the current Army Materiel Command structure.
