The Royal Coat of Arms of the Netherlands used between 1815 and 1907 serves as a symbolic representation of the Dutch monarchy. This emblem is a blend of various heraldic elements, each with its own historical significance. The shield is divided into four quarters: the first and fourth quarters feature the three lions of England from the arms of the House of Nassau; the second quarter displays the seven golden balls representing the seven United Provinces of the Netherlands; and the third quarter shows the armorial bearings of Guelders, with a black lion on a gold field. Above the shield is a crown known as the Prince's Crown (Prinsentak), which is also used by the Dutch monarch when in the Netherlands. The motto "Ich dien" (I serve) appears below the shield. This coat of arms was employed during the reign of King William I and his successors until 1907, when it was replaced with a slightly modified version that is still used today by the Dutch royal family.
