The 17th Coast Guard District is one of nine districts within the United States Coast Guard (USCG) responsible for maritime operations, search and rescue missions, law enforcement, and marine safety. Covering approximately 3 million square miles in the Pacific Ocean, its jurisdiction extends from the California-Mexico border south to the equator and includes Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, and various other Pacific Islands. The district headquarters are located in Alameda, California.
