The 1st Artillery Regiment, also known as the "Gunner" regiment, is a unit of the United States Army. It was established on August 10, 1775, making it one of the oldest continuous units in the U.S. military. The primary role of the 1st Artillery is to provide field artillery and air defense capabilities. The regiment has seen action in several significant conflicts throughout American history, including the Revolutionary War, the Mexican-American War, both World Wars, and the Gulf War. Today, the 1st Artillery Regiment is a part of the United States Army Air Defense Artillery Branch, based at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The regiment's motto is "First to Fire."
