311 Cavalry Regiment (U.S. Army) Accent Coffee Mug

The 311th Cavalry Regiment is a unit of the United States Army. It was activated in 1942 during World War II as part of the segregated all-Black 92nd Infantry Division, known as the "Buffalo Soldiers." Although the regiment saw action in both Europe and the Pacific during World War II, it did not see combat together as a unit due to racial prejudices. After World War II, the 311th was deactivated and reorganized several times before being permanently assigned to the Arkansas Army National Guard in 1956. The regiment's role has since primarily been focused on state emergencies and federal missions when called upon for active duty. The 311th Cavalry Regiment is organized under the Reconnaissance Troop command structure, and it consists of four distinct troops: A, B, C, and D. Each troop specializes in a specific area, including armored reconnaissance, airborne operations, mountain warfare, and nuclear/biological/chemical (NBC) defense.
