The Coat of Arms of Venezuela from 1812 represents the national heraldry of the South American country during its struggle for independence. This design features a shield divided into four quarters, each representing a different aspect of the region's history and geography. The upper left quarter shows a yellow eagle on a green field, symbolizing the Andean region; the upper right quarter depicts a yellow sun over blue waves, representing the Caribbean coastline. The lower left quarter showcases an open book with the motto "Libre para Todos" (Free for All) on a red background, symbolizing liberty and education. The lower right quarter displays a yellow field with a yellow band, symbolizing the Orinoco River. The central escutcheon consists of a white field with three yellow bolts crossed in saltire, symbolizing unity and freedom. A yellow ribbon at the bottom bears the national motto, "Justicia y Paz" (Justice and Peace). This design was used from 1812 until the official adoption of the current Coat of Arms in 1953.
