The Greater Coat of Arms of Chile, in use between 1834 and 1920, is a heraldic emblem that symbolically represented the nation during this period. It incorporated various elements reflecting the rich history and cultural heritage of Chile. At its center was an escutcheon displaying three vertical white bars (representing the Andes Mountains) on a red background, symbolizing the blood spilled in the War of Independence from Spain. Surrounding this were six smaller shields representing the regions of Araucania, Concepción, Valparaíso, Atacama, Tarapacá, and Arica. The whole design was enclosed by a ribbon with the national motto "Por la razón o la fuerza" (By Reason or Force) and a wreath of laurel leaves at the top. This emblem played a significant role in establishing a visual identity for Chile during its early years as an independent nation.
