The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) is a component of the U.S. Department of Justice. It provides federal leadership, grants, training, technical assistance, coordination, and research and evaluation to improve the nation's capacity to prevent and control crime, administer justice, and assist crime victims. OJP oversees several offices, bureaus, and programs that focus on a variety of areas within the criminal justice system, including law enforcement, prosecution, corrections, treatment, juvenile justice, and crime victim services. The office works closely with state, tribal, local, and territorial governments to ensure effective implementation of its grant funding and programs. The OJP's mission is to strengthen the rule of law, increase public safety, reduce recidivism, and advance fairness in our criminal justice system.
