The Soyuz MS-02 was a crewed spacecraft that served as part of the Soyuz program, a human spaceflight mission operated by Roscosmos, Russia's federal space agency. Launched on March 18, 2016, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan, it transported three astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS). The crew members included Russian cosmonaut Sergey Ryzhikov, American astronaut Jeff Williams, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Paolo Nespoli. The spacecraft spent approximately 179 days docked at the ISS before returning to Earth on September 6, 2016. The Soyuz MS-02 marked the continuation of regular manned missions to the ISS following the retirement of the Space Shuttle fleet in 2011.
