XVI Corps (U.S. Army) Accent Coffee Mug

The XVI Corps is a formation of the United States Army that originated during World War II. It was activated on August 15, 1944, as part of the Sixth United States Army under General Jacob L. Devers. The corps played a crucial role in the Allied drive into Germany, participating in significant battles such as the Battle of Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. After World War II, the XVI Corps was inactivated on December 31, 1945. However, it was reactivated during the Korean War on October 20, 1950, serving under United Nations Command. The corps distinguished itself during the Battle of Inchon and the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. In the post-Korean War era, the XVI Corps has been inactivated and reactivated several times due to changes in military strategy and organization. It played a key role in Vietnam War operations as part of the I Corps under Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG). Today, the XVI Corps is part of the United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) command. Its current mission is to ensure regional security and stability by providing training, exercising joint and multinational partnerships, and responding to crises as needed.
