The 102nd Infantry Division, part of the United States Army, is a historical formation that saw action during World War II. Originally activated in October 1940 as a National Guard division, it was later reorganized and trained at Camp Pickett, Virginia before deployment overseas. The division served primarily in the European Theater of Operations, participating in the Allied invasion of Normandy (D-Day) on June 6, 1944, and subsequently taking part in the liberation of France and the Battle of the Bulge among other significant engagements.
