Description/Blazon

A shield with a blazon: Azure (blue), an imperial Chinese dragon affronté Or (gold), with Gules (red) tongue, issuing from a rock Argent (white) in chief, flanked by four acorns stem-up in fess of the same color. Below the shield, a gold scroll bears the inscription "CAN DO" in blue letters.

Symbolism

The shield's blue and white colors represent Infantry. The lower part of the shield displays a Chinese dragon, symbolizing the Regiment’s historical service in China. The white chief features the 14th Corps badge, repeated four times to signify the four major operations. The rock represents Chickamauga, where the Regiment fought with remarkable bravery. The motto "CAN DO" reflects the Regiment's spirit, rendered in "Pidgin English" as a nod to its long service in China.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 22 April 1924.
