Description/Blazon

On a rectangle arched at the top and bottom, divided per chevron enhanced scarlet and celeste (bluebird) with a chevron of two lightning bolts issuing from either side argent. In base, a golden yellow powder horn stringed of the same, below a white polestar encircled by the string, all within a golden yellow border.

Symbolism

The light blue represents Infantry, while white signifies purity of purpose. Scarlet symbolizes valor and sacrifice, and gold denotes honor and high achievement. The chevron with lightning bolts emphasizes the concept of being "ON POINT" or leading, and the lightning bolts link the unit's lineage to the 78th Infantry Division, known as "The Lightning Division." The powder horn reflects combat readiness and the Revolutionary War heritage of "keeping your powder dry." The polestar represents guidance and leadership, and alludes to Fort Drum in upper New York State, the Brigade's headquarters.

Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 7 September 2007.
