Description/Blazon

A shield blazoned: Argent, a fess Azure between, in chief, a hurt charged with the three-columned temple of Georgia in Argent, and in base, a Lorraine cross (a straight-armed cross with two horizontal bars of unequal length, with the shorter bar near the top and the longer one near the base) in Azure. Attached below the shield is a silver scroll inscribed "LET'S GO" in black letters.

Symbolism

The shield’s white (silver) background with a blue fess represents the Infantry colors. The blue disc in the chief derives from the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 82nd Division, under which the unit was initially organized. It features the white temple from the seal of the State of Georgia, where the unit was first formed. The blue Lorraine cross reflects the regiment’s significant service in World War I in the Lorraine province.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 325th Regiment Infantry, Organized Reserve, on 22 April 1925, and amended to correct the description on 11 August 1925. It was redesignated on 24 October 1942, for the 325th Glider Infantry Regiment, Organized Reserve. On 9 January 1956, the insignia was redesignated for the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment. It was redesignated for the 325th Infantry Regiment on 6 June 1958.
