The 33rd Infantry Regiment is an infantry unit of the United States Army, officially established on August 25, 1917, during World War I. It was originally formed as part of the National Army and was designated as the 168th Infantry, later redesignated as the 33rd Infantry in 1921. The regiment is recognized by its distinctive shoulder sleeve insignia, which features a shield with a fleur-de-lis in silver on a field of deep azure blue. The 33rd Infantry Regiment has served in various conflicts throughout its history, including World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and more recently in Iraq and Afghanistan. The regiment is currently part of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) and is stationed at Fort Drum, New York. Throughout its history, the 33rd Infantry Regiment has earned numerous decorations and citations for its service and bravery in combat.
