The 79th Engineer Group is a unit of the United States Army responsible for engineer operations. This group, known as the "Rough Riders," was activated on July 16, 1942, during World War II. The 79th Engineer Group has since been involved in various conflicts and peacekeeping missions, including the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Their primary role involves constructing and repairing roads, bridges, and airfields; conducting military engineering operations; and providing explosive ordnance disposal services. The unit is currently stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.
