The 8th Infantry Regiment is a unit of the United States Army under the U.S. Army Infantry Branch. Established on July 2, 1869, it is one of the oldest infantry regiments in the American military. Throughout its history, the 8th Infantry Regiment has participated in numerous significant conflicts, including the Indian Wars, the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. It is currently part of the 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. The regiment's motto is "First to the Fight," reflecting its tradition of swift response and bravery in combat.
