The 9th Field Artillery Regiment is a unit of the United States Army that specializes in providing indirect fire support to maneuver forces. Established on July 31, 1861, during the American Civil War, it is one of the oldest continuous field artillery units in the U.S. Army. Throughout its history, the 9th Field Artillery has served in various conflicts including the Philippine-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam War, Gulf War, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The regiment is currently organized into a Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, three battalions, and a separate battery assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
