Adams, C.S.A. (U.S. Civil War) Charles Simms Adams was a Confederate States Army officer who served during the American Civil War. Born on March 31, 1835, in Mississippi, he entered military service as a second lieutenant in the Mississippi Infantry in 1861. Throughout his career, Adams served under notable figures such as General Joseph E. Johnston and General Robert E. Lee. Adams gained recognition during the Battle of Atlanta (July 22, 1864), where he led a successful charge that contributed to the Confederate victory.
