The Alabama Emergency Management Agency (AEMA) is a state government entity tasked with preparing for, responding to, and recovering from emergencies or disasters that occur within the state of Alabama, United States. Established as the Alabama Disaster Agency in 1953, it was later restructured and renamed the Alabama Emergency Management Agency in 1974. The AEMA coordinates the activities of state and local governments, private organizations, and volunteer groups during emergencies or disasters, ensuring a unified response to minimize loss of life, property, and environmental damage. It also plays a crucial role in disaster recovery efforts, helping communities rebuild and return to normalcy post-disaster.
