Christ Church, located in Alexandria, Virginia, is a historic Episcopal parish established in 1749. The church gained significant historical importance during the U.S. Civil War due to its strategic location and role as a Union military headquarters. Union General Irvin McDowell used the church as his temporary headquarters before the First Battle of Bull Run (Manassas) in July 1861. After the war, Christ Church was restored and continues to serve as an active parish today.
