Description/Blazon

A shield blazoned: Azure, a bend wavy argent between an eradicated oak tree and a key fesswise or. Attached below and to the sides of the shield is a gold scroll inscribed "ARMS SECURE PEACE" in blue letters.

Symbolism

The shield is blue, representing Infantry. The wavy bend signifies the Regiment's service along the Rio Grande during the Mexican Border conflict and the Aisne River in France during World War I. The oak tree symbolizes the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, where the Regiment first saw combat. The gold key, taken from the Army of Cuban Occupation Medal, represents service during the Spanish-American War.

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 17 April 1929.
