Description/Blazon

A rectangle, arched at the top and bottom, divided per bend sinister Celeste (Bluebird) and Azure (Flag Blue). A scarpe Buff diagonally traverses the rectangle, with a Black bayonet point up outlined in Golden Yellow superimposed over it. Above, there is an arc of three mullets of the same color, all bordered in Golden Yellow.

Symbolism

The light and dark blues represent the historical and current colors of the U.S. Infantry. The tan diagonal line signifies the Defense of Saudi Arabia and the Liberation and Defense of Kuwait, key recent campaigns of the unit. Gold denotes excellence and highlights the Infantry Brigade's supporting combat arm, Armor. The three stars represent World War I, World War II, and the Southwest Asia Campaigns, honoring the Brigade's participation in these theaters. The upright bayonet symbolizes the 170th Infantry Brigade's combat role and its forward-deployed status.

Background

The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved effective 16 October 2009.
