Description/Blazon

A shield divided per fess dancetty of four azure and argent. Issuant from the base is a green mount, and overall in bend is a ski pole crossed by an ice axe in bend sinister, with a sword point up in pale of the second. Attached below and to the sides is a green scroll inscribed with "ASCEND TO VICTORY" in silver letters.

Symbolism

The colors blue and white represent Infantry. The dancetty line signifies the four states represented by the regiment and, along with the ice axe and ski pole, reflects the regiment’s (Mountain) designation. The upright sword emphasizes the unit’s primary Infantry mission, while the green mount refers to the State of Vermont, known as the "Green Mountain State."

Background

The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 16 March 1987.
